Special Literary Issue of the Gilcrease Journal
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: For a special issue of the Gilcrease Journal, new fiction up to 5000 words in length; payment $600 - $1000. The Gilcrease Journal, the publication of the The Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a glossy, four-color, perfect-bound publication that has garnered many awards, including three-time recognition as the Best Publication of the American Association of Museums. The Gilcrease Museum houses the most extensive collection of Western American art in the world and this special issue will pair literary works with traditional and contemporary Western art and artifacts.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- Subject Matter: Should relate to the historic or contemporary West.
- Length: 5,000 words maximum.
- Rights purchased: First North American Serial Rights for previously unpublished work. Copyright will be assigned to the Gilcrease Museum for the purpose of this publication, but retained by the author for future publications.
- Format: Submit hard-copy manuscript, double spaced. Pleased include word count and SASE. Accepted authors will be requested to provide final manuscript as a Word file saved in Rich Text Format.
- Payment: The $3000 budget will be distributed equally among the three to five accepted pieces, with some adjustment possible if pieces vary greatly in length. Minimum-maximum range is $600 - $1000.
- Deadline: October 1, 2003.
- Notification: November 15, 2003 or earlier.
- Publication: May, 2004 issue.
